Clémentine Bedos (they/them) is a transdisciplinary artist whose research-led practice explores the interrelated phenomena of mind, body, and consciousness within our present dominant modes of identity. Drawing from a diverse ancestry (Haitian, Gypsy, Kabyle, French) and a background in law, philosophy, and fine arts, they create multi-sensual performances that weave diasporic spiritual technologies with extended reality (XR) as a creolised form of resistance. Using this mixed apparatus, they aim to disrupt hegemonic technoscientific regimes and decolonise our relationship with images. An invitation to reorient our aesthetic focus inward to delve into the body—divine instrument of perception and karmic archive—and reclaim inner visuality as a site of emancipation and bliss.
Recent projects and performances include ‘Loving Fugitives, Runaway Images’ at Van Gogh House (London, 2023); ‘Metamorph’ at VSSL, Goldsmiths CCA, The Bomb Factory (London, 2023), and Eastside Projects (Birmingham, 2024); ‘Burnt Shadow’ at Copperfield Gallery, and Ugly Duck (London, 2023); ‘Your Rage is Sacred (maa)’ at Goldsmiths Sonics Immersive Media Lab (London, 2023), and FormaHQ (London, 2024); ‘hemi-sync of the heart’ at Acall Festival (London, 2023).
